Tonight in FE3H:
- “Death Toll” paralogue battle (Raphael/Ignatz);
- Some random level 15 battle that I probably shouldn’t have spent my time on but the open quest markers on the monastery map bother me;
- Lorentz moves up to paladin; Byleth, Hilda, Claude, Leonie, Ignatz??? hit level 20.
- Somehow it’s zero cash o’clock here, but luckily there’s 50k of New Game+ renown to spend
For me, I find the leveling and finding the perfect class for each character to be the most stressful part of the game. This time around, with like four years of experience in other games (especially the most recent BG3 playthrough), I thought I could wander into this game again and immediately know how to assign each character to the right thing. Absolutely not! And as I looked stuff up on my phone, it got even more confusing because of min-maxing threads that described stat growth and other shit I didn’t realize existed the first time around. So. I’m… trying to wing it.
(I also consulted the spreadsheet I made in 2020 with the classes I originally chose for each of my characters. I think the only thing I’ve kept the same are Claude and Hilda as Wyvern Riders.)
I think the school setting makes me feel like if I don’t help The Children live up to their potential and find their ultimate class that helps them fulfill their potential (and budding talents, sob), I’m failing them. Extremely normal ways to think about how to win a video game.
Next time: the Remire Village mission. It’s amazing how little I remember about the twists and turns of the story until the moment it’s happening and then it all slams into me at once. Tomas!!!!!!!!!!
